A few stories that have caught my attention this week

Boston predicted to have the 5th biggest job loss in 2009: The BBJ reports on a joint study by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and The Council for the New American City. Our area’s unemployment rate is predicted to rise to 6 percent by the end of the year, making us 5th in the country for job loss.

93 year old freezes to death after utility shut off: A 93-year-old Michigan man froze to death this week inside his home days after the power company limited his use of electricity because of unpaid bills. If you or anyone you know are having a hard time meeting your utility bills, please call 2-1-1 for help. 

Super Bowl Single Girl: A woman in Manhattan is trying to raise $3 million to buy a Superbowl ad so she can find love.  She’s raised $6200 so far and if she doesn’t reach her $3 million goal, she’s donating it all to UW.  We're so close to Valentine's that it seems wrong to hope for lovelessness...but $2.9 million or less could help a lot of people...  Good luck to her either way.
