Skid Row's Insider

L.A.'s only homeless elected official brings incredible insight to city government

I was rummaging through one of my favorite blogs and came across the story of Jeff Page, who has been serving on the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council for the last two years.  What makes this story particularly compelling is that Page, formerly a rap promoter, is homeless and has lived in Skid Row for the last three years.  Compelled by his experience, he started a "one-man campaign" to improve the condition of his neighborhood.  "General Jeff," as he is respectfully called by his constituents, has accomplished many things during his short term in office.  And, although the "odds are stacked against [him]," I am rooting for him.  I am always behind men (and women!) of great vision and action.
