Today, right now, one in four American households don’t have enough savings to meet their basic needs if their income is disrupted for more than three months. And we need to talk about it. According to a 2007 report by Brandeis University and Demos, one in four middle-class families are at high risk of slipping out of the middle class. And it is imperative that we come together to talk about it. On October 15 we'll have that chance.

Join us. SpeakUnited has signed up to be a participant in Blog Action Day 2008. The premise is very simple. Say something about poverty. You don't have to be an expert. You don't even have to be a blogger. You just have to speak up.

Blog Action Day is about mass participation. Anyone is free to join in on Blog Action Day and there is no limit on the number of posts, the type of posts or the direction of thoughts and opinions. -- Blog Action Day site.

Sometimes it takes a range of perspectives to bring a topic like poverty into focus.
