United Way Staff honored by BBJ & Mayor's ONEin3 Council

in

I work with some pretty impressive people at United Way.  Some of them should really be in the market for superhero capes.  And yes, of course, I'm biased, but this month a few of our staff made some big splashes outside of United Way as well. We couldn't be more proud.

Lanita Tolentino and Rita German were selected this week as members of the ONEin3 City of Boston Advisory Council.  ONEin3 Boston was founded by Mayor Thomas M. Menino in 2004 to serve the one-third of Boston's population that is between the ages of 20 and 34. The program connects Boston's young adults with resources related to home buying, business development, professional networking, and civic engagement.

ONEin3 includes several programmatic elements, including the ONEin3 Boston Mayor's Advisory Council, which advises the Mayor on policy and programming, the Boston Young Entrepreneurs Program, which support startups and budding entrepreneurs, and ONEin3 Money, which supports the financial health and wellness of ONEin3ers.

Lanita is the director of volunteer engagement at United Way.  Rita is the director of the Emerging Leaders program.  Rita will serve on the Civic Engagement committee of the council and Lanita on the Housing Committee.

Alicia Canady was named to the Boston Business Journals 40 under 40 list. For 13 years this prestigious award has recognized emerging leaders from Greater Boston. This year was the largest pool of nominees with over 400 nominees from the Business Community.  Chris McIntosh, Publisher of the BBJ, explained "Our 40 under 40 class reflects the deep talent pool and community spirit that makes Boston an economic powerhouse and a great place to live."   Alicia is the director of the Women's Initiative Program at United Way.

Way to go Rita, Lanita and Alicia!
