Local Teen Named Massachusetts Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of America

The following is a news brief from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Woburn.  United Way knows this young woman well. She was a member of our statewide action planning team for Success 4 Life.  Congratulations to both Casandra and the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn!

Woburn, MA - Casandra Santiago-Nieves, a 8-year member of Boys & Girls Club of Woburn was named 2010 Youth of the Year for the state of Massachusetts by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA).  Along with the prestigious title, Santiago-Nieves also received a $1,000 scholarship from the Reader's Digest Foundation.  This summer, she will compete against other youth from states located in BGCA's Northeast Region.  Santiago-Nieves is among hundreds of local Youth of the Year winners across the country recognized by BGCA for her sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community.
