Patriot Jerod Mayo shoots a PSA for United Way
There's a great post up on the Herald right now by Ian Rapoport (also via twitter on @rapsheet) that gives a behind-the scenes look at a public service announcement New England Patriots Linebacker Jerod Mayo filmed today for United Way. The public service announcement is promoting 2-1-1, United Way's toll-free helpline. During the shoot, Jerod also took the time to raise awareness about volunteering, particularly in the lives of young people.
Earlier this year, Jerod launched a "Mentor Challenge" at http://chooseyourimpact.org/jerodmayo. According to Mass Mentoring there are about 3,000 youth on waiting lists for mentors in Massachusetts, Jerod’s been trying to make a dent in that list, so that more local kids have someone they can look up to. You can help
Here are a few highlights from the article and twitter feed, but jump over to the Herald to see the full post and photos.
On why he's doing this: “I’m shooting a campaign for United Way, doing good things and also for 211, a hotline that helps people out when they don’t know where to turn,” Mayo said. “First and foremost, it’s for the kids. Anytime I can do something with kids, I’m always trying to get involved. It’s important during this time, the economy is kind of going down, the first people really affected are the kids. Everybody that can influence the community (has to help).”
Jerod asks: "Do you want to see dimples?"

I'll be sure to post the photos we took and share the 2-1-1 psa just as soon as we have them.
